The Light Of H.O.P.E.

At Xpress Money, we believe that empowering people, creating opportunities for financial inclusion, and helping those in need is an important part of what we do. People lifting themselves out of poverty to lead productive lives is good for society, and also promotes sustainable business growth. That’s why we’ve worked tirelessly through 2016 to help, support and empower people via our CSR platform, H.O.P.E. (Helping Our People and Environment).

H.O.P.E. aims to promote financial and social inclusion for thousands of people across the globe, supporting families and communities as well as individuals. H.O.P.E has had a successful 2016, and will reach its largest audience yet in 2017.

Regular programmes aim to improve the quality of life for large groups of people, with a focus on financial literacy and charitable initiatives, in keeping with Xpress Money’s core operations. After all, the most effective way to help people is to focus on what you do best, and where you can make the most difference.

A hugely beneficial initiative has been the organisation of pre-departure Orientation Seminars, held in the Philippines for overseas Filipino workers. At these seminars, participants are trained in language and cultural skills before departing for their new lives abroad. H.O.P.E. also supports Pinoy WISE, an initiative that helps Filipinos with budgeting, saving and investment skills- invaluable for those employed overseas, so they can budget to send money to families back home. This initiative extends beyond the Philippines to Gulf countries where Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) are numerous.

The programmes are not confined to Filipino workers. In Kenya, H.O.P.E. helps to provide aid and financial literacy training through a partnership with the NGO Habitat For Humanity. Whole communities have benefited from education on microcredit and remittances, as well as funds to build homes.

It is in the UAE that the achievements of H.O.P.E. have been particularly striking. The programme provides free English and computer classes, as well as entertainment programmes and help for the India-based children of workers, through its work with partner NGO Smartlife. The UAE has always been at the forefront of care for those with special needs, and H.O.P.E. supports the SNF Special Needs Centre through a wide variety of activities: Calendars have been sponsored, equipment and laptops donated, and many Xpress Money employees run the Dubai Marathon to raise funds for the centre.

Individuals in need have also benefited from the programme, which has donated medical equipment, funds for emergency medical treatment, schooling, debt clearance and many other types of financial aid to people who needed assistance when personal circumstances became difficult.

We want H.O.P.E to reach thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of people. Whether reaching out to entire communities, or responding to a cry for help from an individual, we focus on creating human connections while promoting prosperity and equality for all.
