It is a matter of great pride for Xpress Money to receive the Dubai Chamber’s CSR Label 2017. This is the first government certification that Xpress Money has received in the UAE.
The CSR Label is awarded on an annual basis, to companies who exhibit sustainable business practices in Workplace, Marketplace, Community and Environment. To qualify, we adhered to a stringent assessment process, as part of which provided extensive supporting documents on our actions taken.
Our CSR program called H.O.P.E., which stands for Helping Our People & Environment is built around the theme of ‘growth’ and has clearly identified focus areas being Education, Financial inclusion & Literacy, Relief work & Philanthropy.
In December 2016, the UAE President had declared 2017 as the ‘Year of Giving’. As a brand headquartered in the UAE, we started the year with Volunteering, one of the pillars of ‘giving’. Through our employee initiative of ‘Run for a Cause’ at the Dubai Marathon, we raised funds for the benefit of ‘the determined ones’ of SNF Development Center, Dubai.
One of our most recognized & awarded CSR initiatives in 2017 was our Mother’s Day campaign in Philippines called ‘Kids without mothers’. Through the campaign, we appealed to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) across the UAE, Qatar, Oman & Hong Kong to send money to Philippines. Xpress Money, in return, would contribute to the development of street children in Philippines. The success of the campaign resulted in our being able to transform the lives of 11 street kids by providing holistic support including food, education, shelter & developmental activities, for a period of 3 years from 2017.
Despite being a first-time entrant, our strong HR policies & procedures through which we ensure transparency, equality and growth opportunities to our employees, in addition to fair compensation & benefits, were well appreciated by the authorities. This will enable us to attract more talent in the long-run.
While we qualified for the CSR Label, it made us take stock of our current practices, understand where exactly we stand in terms of implementing the same and identify areas of improvement for the coming year.
The certification will also facilitate forging the right partnerships, both from a business as well as a societal perspective, to grow our brand even further.
