Summer Tips

Summer is here and the scorching heat is really hard on the body and mind. But don’t let the temperature get you down. Here are some no-sweat ways to stay cool this summer.

Drink more water

Water is the fundamental of things living. During the summer heat, drinking enough water becomes even more important. When your body heats up, water acts like your body’s very own air conditioner as you begin to sweat. To replenish, it is important to drink more water.

Stay indoors

In some counties, heat waves create so much havoc. It’s best to stay indoors during the hottest part of the day.

Apply Sunscreen

The sun’s UVA rays are very harmful for the skin. These harmful rays are at their worse during summers. So before going out in the sun, always apply sunscreen of an SPF value suitable for your skin type.

Listen to your body

Muscle cramps in arms, legs or stomach, mild confusion, weakness or sleeping issues, could indicate dehydration. If you experience any of these symptoms, rest in a cool place and drink plenty of fluids.

Exercise comfortably

Just because it’s hot outside, doesn’t mean you stop exercising. Switch to water sports and exercising in short bursts. A little bit of sweat will in fact, help you cool off.

With some simple precautions, summertime can be a good time to do fun things. So follow these simple steps and stay cool under the harsh sun.

“Summer is a period of luxurious growth. To be in harmony with the atmosphere of summer, awaken early in the morning and reach to the sun for nourishment to flourish as the gardens do. Work, play, travel, be joyful, and grow into selfless service. The bounty of the outside world enters and enlivens us.” ~ Paul Pitchford
