Backpacker’s essentials

A backpacking trip is something that is on most of our bucket lists; it’s a trip made by those who seek an adrenaline rush and want to experience life on the other side. Whether you are someone who has backpacked before or a newbee to such an adventure, whether its international or within the geographical limits of your country, there are a few must do’s while planning for your escapade.

Travel Light

This is rule no. 1 that any backpacker needs to abide with. Backpacking is all about carrying your luggage with you on your back and exploring a place. Backpacking involves hours of walking, trekking and traveling that is sometimes strenuous because of the weather or terrain conditions. The minimal weight you carry, the easier it will be for you to hop around from one place to another.

Location Map – Your True Friend

In today’s digital age, we are spoilt for choice when it comes to using a tool to navigate ourselves. GPS, google maps and hundreds of other such apps always come to our rescue when we are lost or don’t know the way to our destination. However, in places when the network connectivity is low or the access to electricity is limited, even the most superior gadget will fail to bail us out of a desperate situation. A hard copy of the location map is therefore extremely important for a trip like this. Also, the thrill that you get while studying a map and following the direction yourself cannot be compared to merely being directed by a device.

Check The Essentials

This is self explanatory. It is important to ensure that you have these certain essentials with you at all times that will keep you going through your trip.
• Identification Documents
• Torch
• First Aid Kit
• Camera
• Compass
• Insect Repellent
• Empty Carry Bags

Choose The Right Footwear

A backpacking trip is all about walking around and exploring, it is extremely important to wear the right footwear that will keep you comfortable right through your journey. It is essential to invest in a good pair of shoes which will keep you on the go at all times. Shoe bites, tight shoes and heavy footwear can most definitely be avoided on this trip.

Carry Enough Of Money

Make a checklist and budget yourself before you begin your travel journey. Carry a little extra money as one should always account for unforeseen expenses or circumstances while planning the trip. Alternately, you could make an Xpress Money transaction to yourself if you do not want to carry large amounts of money for safety purposes.

If you have ticked all the above mentioned points while planning your trip, you can be sure that you are ready to begin your adventure and create lifetime memories for yourself. Bon Voyage!
