Xpress Money extends a ray of H.O.P.E in Bihar
~ Sponsors the education of 51 underprivileged girls for a year ~
Bihar, March 20th 2013:Xpress Money, the world's most dependable money transfer brand, recently launched H.O.P.E, their sustainable corporate responsibility initiative that is focused on inclusive social intervention and community support programs across the world. H.O.P.E signifies Xpress Money's commitment of 'Helping Our People and Environment' with its first phase targeting Asia, with a special focus on India. As one of their immediate initiatives in India, Xpress Money has pledged to sponsor the education of 51underprivileged girls in Bihar for a year.
Xpress Money partnered with 'GiveIndia', India's most trusted online donation platform and the 'Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra' (NBJK) NGO in Bihar to drive this program. The initiative was conceived and implemented on Xpress Money's official Facebook page through an online jigsaw puzzle, which concluded recently. Users had to solve a simple puzzle to make the highest score and Xpress Money would donate one-third of the highest score towards educating underprivileged girl children. Xpress Money received an overwhelming response to the puzzle with a whopping 11, 302 game plays and the winner alone played 489 times.
Xpress Money contributed over 85,000 INR towards the education of 51 underprivileged girl children for a year in rural Bihar, exceeding the amount that was initially pledged. This contribution will ensure that these 51 girls who were deprived of basic school supplies are given text books, studying material, school uniforms, an entire year's school fees, and most importantly, Education!.
Speaking about this initiative, Mr. Vinesh Nair, Vice President - Global Marketing & Communications at Xpress Money said, "We have ensured that we go beyond just being a money transfer company and extend our helping hand to the needy whenever possible. H.O.P.E is our consolidated effort to try and bring about a societal change. Since education is one of our prime focuses in India and research shows that gender disparities continue to exist in the country, where out of a 100 girls below poverty line, only 19 girls reach class V, we decided to do our bit towards bridging this gap to empower the girl child. This is just a small initiative in the realm of bigger plans and we are constantly evaluating such opportunities across markets wherein we can provide even a small ray of H.O.P.E to lives of people and make a difference."
He added that community support initiatives under H.O.P.E have already been identified and rolled out in the Indian sub-continent in key markets like Philippines, Indonesia, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
H.O.P.E (Helping Our People and Environment) is a sustainable corporate social initiative by Xpress Money that will focus on three global themes - financial literacy and inclusion, education and relief work. The first phase of the initiative will be executed in GCC, South Asia, and Asia Pacific with empowerment of women and school children being the prime beneficiaries.
