~ Adopts St. Xavier's English School ~
Kolkata, 26 March, 2013: Xpress Money, the world's most dependable money transfer brand, today inaugurated St. Xavier's English School in Kolkata, which they adopted as part of H.O.P.E, their consolidated sustainable corporate responsibility platform. The school was inaugurated by Mr. Vinesh Nair, Vice President - Global Marketing and Communication, Xpress Money and Mr. Arvind Mylar, Regional Vice President- Business Development, South Asia, Xpress Money. H.O.P.E is Xpress Money's commitment of 'Helping Our People and Environment' focused on inclusive social intervention and community support programs across the world. The first phase of the initiative focuses on Asia, in particular in India, where issues such as financial literacy & inclusion and education will be addressed.
Xpress Money adopted St. Xavier's English School with the objective to provide underprivileged children with education and a good environment to study. Xpress Money refurbished the whole school's infrastructure and its premises including decent hygiene facilities for the students. They have also sponsored the education of 100 students for a year by providing for their school fees and all the necessary study materials required. The renovation of the school was completed in 1 months' time and the students were in for a surprise when they saw their newly renovated school. The smiles on the students' faces on seeing their school were priceless.
Xpress Money is also in the process of setting up an organizing committee comprising of school teachers and local Government officials who will plan and organize extracurricular activities in schools such as inter school competitions, sports day meets, children's day celebrations etc. This will serve as a platform for students to showcase their talents and will also help them interact with a wider audience.
Mr. Vinesh Nair, Vice President, Global Marketing & Communication, Xpress Money said "This is indeed a very unique initiative for us which, in its spirit, we believe has the potential to bring about a societal change. We wish to create a conducive learning environment for education, for the benefit of the lesser privileged in society. We also recently sponsored the education of 51 underprivileged girls in Bihar. These are small initiatives undertaken by us in the realm of bigger plans as we constantly evaluate opportunities across markets where we can bring even a small ray of H.O.P.E to lives of people and make a difference."
He added that community support initiatives under H.O.P.E have been identified and rolled out in the Indian sub-continent in key markets like Philippines, Indonesia, Nepal and Sri Lanka as well.
H.O.P.E (Helping Our People and Environment) is a sustainable corporate social initiative by Xpress Money that focuses on three global themes -financial literacy and inclusion, education and relief work. The first phase of the initiative will be executed in GCC, South Asia, and Asia Pacific with women and school children being the prime beneficiaries.
