Minister of Interior Cup Cricket Tournament ends in style and grandeur

March, 2014: Cricketing icons landed in the UAE to support the public awareness campaign of the Abu Dhabi Community Police to build a crime-free and safer community. The ace cricketers were here to inspire the four-nation cricket tournament for the Minister of Interior Cup to be held under the patronage of H. H. Lt. The tournament was conducted with much fanfare, glitter, glory, spell-binding fireworks and loads of entertainment on 28th March, 2014, at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi, UAE. India Ambassadors XI beat Sri Lanka Ambassadors XI in the finals to clinch the cup amidst cheering from thousands of cricket enthusiasts.
The mega event was inaugurated by His Excellency Mohammad Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Deputy General Commander of Abu Dhabi Police, in the presence of Lt. Colonel Mubarak Awad Bin Muhairom, Director of Department of Community Police; H.E. Muhammad Imran, Ambassador of Bangladesh; H.E. T.P. Seetharam, Ambassador of India; H.E. Asif Durrani, Ambassador of Pakistan; H.E. Dr. Mahinda Balasuriya, Ambassador of Sri Lanka; Goodwill Ambassadors and ace cricketers Mr. E. A. S. Prasanna (India), Mr. Jalaluddin (Pakistan); and Mr. Romesh Kaluwitharana (Sri Lanka); Mr. Y. Sudhir Kumar Shetty, COO – Global Operations, UAE Exchange and other Senior Officials from UAE Exchange and Xpress Money.

In the four-nation cricket tournament, a series of seven matches were played starting early in the day. The food, transportation and security arrangements were well in place for this high-profile event, which was the runway for the campaign to take-off, enabling people to understand and build a strong bonding with the Abu Dhabi Community Police.
